Help picking a sub 10"

I am helping a friend out. I will be doing the install, and I have a $3 - 400 budget.

He was looking at the shallow mount kickers and shallow mount P3's.

He is not looking to be loud. Mainly listens to rock and country and just wants to hear the lows.

I pointed him towards the soundqued and sundown which of course could be had for way less than the kickers.

I on the other hand, am running an SA12. So I know what sundown can do, but not to familiar with the Sundown E Series.

So? Which one of these subs will acomplish the job we are looking for? Or should I let him get his Shallow mount kicker or fosgate?

Sealed or ported? I have a couple of NVX VSW 10's in a bandpass and they hit hard and solid, but not low.

Sealed, but we may go ported. I should be getting the dimensions later today or possibly tomorrow.

air space is nearly everything. the shallow mount kickers need the same air space as most regular subs in the same size and power rating, no real benefit going with kicker shallow mount unless you can give them the air space needed.

Is this even wired correctly?

I've always thought parallel was

Pos: Coil 1 to coil 2

Neg: Coil 2 to coil 1
