Hey guys, about 9 months ago i purchased 2 12" 3hps with re mt soft parts. I put them in the back of a crown vic with two saz 1500ds and a couple yellow tops. I was extremely delighted with them due to the extremely low end response(I had em in 4.5 cubic feet at 32 hz). Well, long story short, they kept giving me problems and kept blowing fuses. Finally after I had the fuses repaired one blew on the surround. I dont really want to send it back to the factory to get repaired and was wondering what new subs are out that will be comparable or better than the 3hps. I loved the 3hps low end so with that in mind what subs could I just put in the same box that the 3hps are in? I just want to do a direct swap. they will still have the 1500ds on them. I havent paid attention to any new subs since I got mine because I was so happy with them. I was thinking btls but I dont think a 1500d per would be enough power? any suggestions? I would like it to be as loud if not louder than before. Thanks in advance....

not a blow fuse... its the wire that connects from the spider to the cone. i think the wire is tinsel. It blew out like 3 times. either way does nobody have any suggestions?

So was it a typo in the original when you said it kept blowing fuses?
Breaking tinsel leads is usually a sign of over excursion, which is usually either the wrong box (too big, or too much port area) or the SSF is set incorrectly, allowing the sub to unload below tuning.

oh thats from over excursion?? hmm... because they did tend to move a lot.. Thanks a bunch, I did not know what kept causing it. Naa i am interested in spl, just no loud high hz burps. I am thinking of the night shades or the Bls but just am hoping that they will be able to retain that same power at low hz that shakes the whole car not just the trunk. Low bass is more pleasurable to the ear to me.

How much port area does your current enclosure have? I wouldn't reccomend throwing your new subs in your old box but thats just me.

You have a ton of choices, lots of great subs out there especially if money is of no concern to you
