i have some many possibilities for better system with what i have this is my sub

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069929_297969848,00.html

and i have two pioneer tens under my rear seat, i have a dodge ram quad cab truck, my box for my big sub is inbetween my front seats running from the front to the back seats and it is ported in the front and my sub is upfire, i have a soundstorm crusier 4000 watt max amp running my 6000 watt max 78 lb. sub and people with dual 12s running at 800 watts still beats me in sub comp. i have a 800 watt pioneer and a 1225 watt kicker amp running the two small tens, i am running 1 gauge wire to my single battery. i have stock speakers also. what can i do i know this sub should be hitting tens times louder than it is. i am thinking about rebuilding my box so it is rear fire or down fire ported. i need help on what i should do, i know my soundstorm amp is crap what amp should i get to make it louder and it would need to be bridgeable so i can add on. or should i just build a diff. box first. help!

ya i cant take out the rear seats its a huge box though its about 3 cubic feet maybe

my profile or whatever it is isnt right i ended having to take out the middle front seat

Ok. Let's look at the math here. Surface cone area.

1 x 12=12

2 x 10=20

total 32

2 x 12=24

SO really you are equal to running 2 12's and an 8. In most cases not all I would say that 1 12 will hit harder than 2 x 10's. The 12 will play lower, louder and move about the same air mass as 2 x 10's. Unless you are running something like a TC OEM 10".

Pioneer subs from what I have seen are not known for being crazy SPL subs. Especially when going up agianst subs from TC, DD, RE, SI.

The soundstorm is crap and is probably not putting out rated pwr have it checked to see what it is really making.

What freq is your box tuned to?

This is all my opinion and the spl guys on here can tell you a lot more than can about getting this thing loud.

it is tuned to 33 hertz but the my box slants down in the front by my front cupholders and the port is on the slant and the sub is upfiring at the other end of the box, it is not the best box design i was just thinking about rear fire or down fire and rebuilding but i know that amp is crap and i am wondering is a rockford fosgate would be better like the 10001db model?

lol do you know how to find area?

thats not how you find surface area

5.5x5.5x3.14 is close for a 12

4.5x4.5x3.14 is close to a 10 so

1 12 is about 95" and two tens is about 127" so togeteher you have about 222" of surface area

Hmm, it doesn't make any sense to me. He is simply adding up the diameters of the subwoofers rather than finding the area of the cone.
area of a circle = (pi)r^2
Math ftw!

Anyway, I would say to go with the same size subs and get rid of either the 10"s or the 12" but since the 12" you have is better than the other subs I would keep it and maybe add another one if you have the money. If not, just build a proper box for the Premier and get rid of the other subs.

As someone also said, the amp you have is not the greatest. Upgrading that would be a HUGE help.

Just because you have more subs than another person does not mean you will beat them at a competition. That is largely dependent on which subs and what your enclosure is like. Plus amplifiers, kind of vehicle, and a lot of other little things.

However, if you want to build a decent box for the premier, just lets us know as much about the box you have it in now and you will get plenty of useful input from some of the members here. Be it either rebuilding one for the spot you have that one or building one where your rear seats are.

I was not trying to get scientific and do the real math thanks for doing it for me. At least we got him an answer. I new someone would.

It was to give him an idea-

If he is going up against a guy with 2 x 12=190 and he is working with 222 but 127 of it are 10's so I took that into consideration. Thats why I just did the simple math. Still if you go up against someone running two DD, TC, SI ect 12's with what you got if they are running the correct pwr you are going to have a hard time.

The SPL guys can help way more than I can. I am on the other end of the spectrum SQ.

I love when people assume the surface area is as simple as adding up the diameter of the subs. Always gets me to smile. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Uhm... what? You aren't even feeding the two tens the same amount of power? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
I did not even notice that! Ouch.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
