Help on mids and highs...

looked it up. so beaming is basically loss of sound at certain frequencies when your head is not facing the speaker directly? the website I read said 2800 Hz for the 8". You can add a dedicated midrane to battle it though.

I guess I was giving advice based off of MY preferences but I did say to the guy decide what you are going after, I think that is what every build should start with.

Well, depends what music you listen to I guess. I listen mostly to rap and electronic music like dubstep and stuff, so I don't really NEED an SQ system for that. The 8' and the bullet tweeters do just fine. Goes good with loud bass too. I know a 2 way wouldn't be good for rock.

And I will definitely read more about science of sound, BUT watch this and let me know what you think =)

That is impressive for 2 pairs of $54 dollar speakers is all I'm saying. At that distance, you can hear the detail in music just fine.. and they actually sound good inside the car at a reasonable volume then it just gets scary. Good for chilling somewhere while having a brew with yer mates and listening to some loud music //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif They do require making custom door cards, so this guy will probably never do it and just install some walmart speakers connected to the HU and wonder why they sound so **** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I don't think this beaming thing would really be a big problem in real life or even be that noticeable. It said a loss of 7-8db at 60deg off axis. That ain't so bad, and if your music doesn't have those frequencies in it then it's not even a problem.

So you think ever time I play rock I had to add a midrange and every time I play rap I have to toss in some pro audio?

I guess something you have to hear to understand.

well no **** a 3 way is gonna be able to reproduce a broader frequency range. a 2 way system with a sub can sound very good.

obviously you are an SQ guy, I am yet to get there. For now, all I care about is that my music be loud and sound clean. and a 2 way with 8s is the perfect way to get there.

So are we helping the guy out or turn this thread into a shitfest?

Not to threadjack but....I could use a lil assistance on my Clarion cz702....have messed around with freq settings/x-over points. Cannot seem to bring the highs more clearer.

how the **** are we supposed to help him if he dissapeared. also he doesn't know what he's going after. literally asked what brand to get and whether he should get an amp.

What's your point?

SQ is cool an all but mehh..Can the whole street hear your tunes? If not I ain't buying it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/suave.gif.858fc102f7646e678ee8af7e1fbc41d1.gif And unless your **** sounds like steve meades lexus ISF then it's just a half assed quiet system. Even if it sounds half as good, still a ******* SQ system. But that's where misunderstandings begin, people say they want good, quality sound. But what they might mean is sound free of rattles and distortion that they're used to hearing in their stock sound.

with stage speakers u can really make a show, with SQ you just sit in your car and listen to your jazz or bethoven or whatever.

unless you listen to rock, jazz, soul and all that other good chyt, I'd never go SQ

I think we can all agree on that

Bro, hit sh*t sounds better than meades lmfao. Meade aint sh*t in the sq world and he will never win any real MECA sanctioned sq competitions with his lexus. Just seeing him tune his 360.3 shows he doesnt know how to build a proper curve. He's still in the realm of loud and clear, nothing more.

You are out of your element here bud. Stick with your loud and clear basically spl talk. Real SQ is on another level. If you think meade is sq, you got a long @ss way to go.

We dont throw out SQ like some newb jokers aight. Sh*t gets real when people who know nothing about it and never experienced real sq talk like they do.

Lol no freaking clue. This was my old meh SQ car. The new one is just as loud in the midrange and highs.

Just quiet. A SQ plays everything. Unlike a PA car that can only play compressed crap.

what do you mean by compressed crap?

impossible to judge SQ from that video but you can tell it's quiet, just like you'd expect from SQ

PA FTW!!

get with the times man, everybody listens to mp3, or worse yet, streams

-youtube to mp3 downloads = garbage mega compressed

-rebassed 320kbps music. Even tho its encoded in 320kbps, every detail and soundstage in the recording is lost due to how they have to cut things down in order to remake the basslines.

-pandora, slightly better than youtube. 128kbps, still crap

-paid pandora, 192kbps, still junk.

-piratebay 256kbps-320kbps downloads Some are very good however theres a few cr@p uploads

-itunes 256kpbs, bearable but not optimal

-spotify premium, "extreme quality" 320kbps The gold standard in compressed files.

- Piratebay FLAC discography downloads.

-Tidal = the rich man's streaming service.

-CDs = dying breed but still tied for top dog if tidal uses apt X

Yes paid streaming services sound better than "downloaded" files put on a USB. I was a firm believer in the USB until I tried the other services, The clarity and detail, naturalness and soundstage was a day and night difference vs "high quality" files you download online. The quality of the bluetooth hardware in your head unit plays a big role as well. Cheap head unit, cheap sound regardless of source. Cheap bluetooth module will make it worse on bluetooth.

I like my 320kbps dubstep and deep house //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Aren't you supposed to create the stage with a DSP anyway? By setting delays and whatnot. SOmeone said that 1/3 of the system is the components, 1/3 is the install, 1/3 is the tuning.

Tuning is not easy. I don't know how to do it, but ill try to learn.
