Ok guys I need some help from som knowledgeable/more experienced installers than I.

I am working on my Impala Trunk and I have fabbed these hinge covers as seen in this pic.

These will be wrapped in black vinyl. My quetion is what can I use to cover up the hole so you can't see through it, while still allowing the hinge to lower and lift freely. I have seen pics of some using some sort of what look like "Bristles" on either side. They look like two paint brushes.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks

Jimmy

Nice trunk can you give me tips on how to do that. I got a 1991 Caprice and you know they are pretty much the same car.

The bristle idea is probably the easiest way to do it, although there are tons of ways.

Just find something you can use, or buy some black bristled brushes and modify them. Basically all you have to do is attach the bristles to the back of the tim piece so that they cover the cap. Ideally you would have a set of bristles on each side half the length of the gap.

I would get the sweeps that go on the bottom of a door. You could even get the ones that are black vinyl, mount one on either side of the hole. It would match the overall finish so it'd be less noticable, and it would be pretty simple.

You think I could get those at Home depot or something like that?

We always used soft flexable rubber similar to what wire boots are made from. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Guys I appreciate all of the responses. I'm going to home depot later to see what they have. If anyone has any more ideas please post them up.

BTW here is a pic of my box after paint. So you get a better idea.
