Help! Not the typical amp power question...

So my amp works.. and it doesn't. I have an Alpine 7894 HU and the remote lead only seems to work (turning amp on) when it's in Radio. Switch to CD or any other mode and *poof* no signal to power the amp. How could this be? Is there a solution other than sending in the HU? I've known these leads to go bad, but usually they go away totally, not just with a specific source type. Help me, I'm stumped!

EDIT: I've tried wiring the remote lead to a switched and fused acc circuit. Unfortunately the amp will not take high current as a turn on signal and goes into protection mode.

x2, there should be two different blue wires, blue=power antenna / blue/white=remote wire. the power antenna wire usually gets shut off when you switch out of radio. just check your wires, and try the blue/white wire. if theres still a problem get back to us

Right on the dot guys. I couldn't find that **** remote wire until I did some surgery on the harness casing the previous shop installed to the factory wiring (it was a very sturdy casing, must've been a good quality shop). Needless to say, a little re-soldering, two heat-shrink, and some arthritis-inducing hand wrenching later, it's working perfectly. Thanks a lot guys, I can't believe it was such a simple thing I've overlooked.
