Help Noob

Ok so i want to put in some bad *** home audio i have blue ray dvd an a hdtv but the sund is for crap : (. So can any one lead me in the right direction im looking for a reciver that take hdmi input an has a sub out so i can hook up some subs off a plate amp. O an also some speaker choices would be very helpful as well thankyou!

Denon is good as well, but pricey. You really have to be more specific, because it seems like you need HDMI inputs/outputs on the reciever for your blu ray and to also go to the tv.

in that case, onkyo wont work. might look into the denon avr 2807.

but you need to give a budget here cuz recievers can go as high as 2-3k.

for speakers, go with monitor, you cant lose. i rock niles because they are in wall, but they sound **** good, sound better than some high end towers i have heard.

recievers: denon, pioneer elite, yamaha has some cool shit, but i'm still a denon guy

woofer: velodyne, end of story

look in misc classies, forgot the user name, but someone there has a denon receiver and some paradigm studios for sale around your budget

$2k worth of equipment for about $1200 or so

sorry too lazy to search myself right now:(

Harmon Kardon sells some pretty nice recievers in that price range
HK sounds good but they dont have the power that denon/yamaha/pioneer generally speaking. if you were on a budget i would go with a yamaha. you can find good deals on them sometimes. they offer lots of flexability, power, and features. its really tough building a monster HT system on 900 bones. for a woofer you are going to have to look elsewhere. the velodynes i would consider fall into the 700 on up range.

Yamaha RX-V Series is the way to go IMO.

I couldn't imagine building a system for 900 now that my tastes have turned a bit expensive. But, if you do some looking around and listening you might luck out. Also, look in local shops for display models they might be willing to sell and/or trade in stuff.

Also, you really don't need to do 7.1. If you want to do it go for it, but there is definatly no reason to....
