help! no sound from rears

I'm having an issue with either the headunit (Sony MEX-BT4100P) or the amp (MTX JackHammer JH404). The issue is that im not getting sound to my rear speakers. The h/u has 3 RCA outputs on the back (sub, rear & front) I'm only using the front & rear outputs on the jackhammer amp as I have another amp dedicated to the subs. I found that i can only get sound to the rear speakers if I disconnect (either at the h/u or the amp) the set of cables connecting the two. Once I do this I can get sound to my rears with the fader set to center but as soon as I adjust the fader to 100% rear all I get is sub noise.

If I plug the RCA's back in the rear speakers stop altogether even with the fader on center. Ive ruled out cables as the problem so that leaves me with either h/u or amp. Both are brand new so im thinking/hoping its just some sorta setting on either the amp or h/u but i have no idea.

I should also add that I did manage to get a slight hissing sound coming from the rears when all cables were plugged in and I messed with the buttons and dials on the amp...but no music.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I tried to submit a post with the url's for the amp and h/u but it wont let me. Easily googled tho.

"Only using the front & rear outputs on the jackhammer amp." - HUH?! I do not think that you have your rca's and HU set up properly to accomplish what you are trying to do.....

Sorry..I meant to say i'm using the front/rear outputs on the h/u to go into the jackhammer...if that helps. Front speakers work perfectly..its jut the rears I cant get to work the same way.

OK so let me see if I understand you correctly now then... You are only using the front & rear output of the HU in total (For your subs as well as mids / highs?) Or are you running the sub out rca to your sub amp, and the front AND rear to your 4 channel?

Are you running all 4 channels off of the MTX then to your front AND rear speakers?

Correct Im running my sub output to a dedicated sub amp and just the front and rear outputs to the 4 channel. I was hoping to have full control over sound "position" by doing it this way with the front/rears.

It sounds to me like your rear rca out on your HU is not set for rear, but rather sub out? Check the menu settings on your HU to be sure your rear rca out is set to full / speaker and not to LP / sub out...

Dude...you're awesome! It took me some time to find out how to check the settings for it (the manual had it mislabeled) but there was a setting that allows the deck to use the rear speakers as a sub-woofer if u didn't have one. Once I found it and turned it off the rear speakers jumped to life. You cannot imagine the relief im feeling atm. It took me 6 months to gather all the components for this so having to send something back was like a dark cloud over my head. Thanks again for the time to help me out!
