Hi, I'm new to these forums, and pretty new to car audio equipment in general. I tried to do a search to help answer some of the questions I had, but couldn't really find anything. I was hoping you guys could help me.
I'm looking for a new head unit for my 03 Jeep Liberity. What I want is one that can control my satellite radio (XM preferably, but I can switch to Sirius if needed) and my iPod. Now I know they make some units that do this, but I haven't seen them in action so I was curious how WELL they do this.
One of the biggest things I want is to be able to see the song title and artist at the same time. Something that has at least a two line display would be ideal. One that I actually have seen in action is the Panasonic CQ-C7301U, and I love the display on this. In XM mode, it shows the station name, the artist, and the song title. Only problem is, it isn't iPod ready.
That seems to be my biggest question though, iPod support. Are there any players that have iPod support that it is even worth it? I've heard a lot of them have a lot of limitations, like it doesn't recognize all the songs on the player, or it can only see so many playlists. With the other iPod aftermarket solutions (such as the axxess adapter), they seem to use the cd changer to access 6 different playlists, which I would think would severly limit the ease of use. So, are there any iPod solutions that will let me control my it from the HU, and still access all my music fairly easily (I know it won't be near as good as the iPod interface, but as long as I can get to my music one way or another)? Also, is there a player that can display the song title and artist at once? Preferably something like the above mentioned Panasonic model, because it is just so easy to read.
