!!Help Needed!! Im VERY Tech Savy but my 1ST SYSTEM! IM AMPED! PLZ HELP! TY!

ps- look guys... i totally understand u are all workin on high end systems, and u been in the game for a hott minute, but theres no way you can tell me that with the above listed amp i got, which the guy above said was a great amp, and the box i just previously listed the dimensions of, as well as the subs @ 4 ohms which i linked just above, theres no way u can tell me that its not gonna sound at least decent in the trunk of my town car lol ive had so many friends with in my opinion slammin systems that havent gone to the depths im even attemptin to go to... again, my price range of $500 is JUST for 2 12" subs and i already have all the JL wire kits for power & speakers... altho my only concern rite now is wirin up the subs, i can always do teh speakers later... so i dont see how so many of u guys look and laugh at my price range and wat im TRYIN to do... and nobody has told me yet how to actually wire the 2 subs into my amp, i see all the setup where the wires go on back the amp, but i just dont kno how to/if to bridge the wires to maximize the power to these 2 subs, while still leaving the other channels open for future speaker wiring. i guess wat im lookin for is advice on these linked subs as compared to the amp and box dimensions listed above, as well as wat wires go wheres from the back of each sub, to the back of each channel on the amp.

Assuming those dimensions listed are OUTSIDE dimensions, and there is no center divider in the box, and assuming it is 3/4" thick MDF, the internal dimensions should be about 2.65 cu. ft. - or 1.3 cu. ft. per 12. That is a decent about of volume for sealed 12" subs.

That enclosure volume is in the range for JL 12W6, but the power provided by your amp is not enough to take advantage of the W6 - IMO.

That should be a perfect enclosure volume and power for a pair of JL Audio 12W3v2 or 12W3v3. You may be able to save a bundle on a used pair like these:

JL Audio 12W3-D4 : eBay Motors (item 260563116093 end time Mar-11-10 09:47:33 PST)

But realize JL won't honor any warranty from an ebay purchase - new or used.

Manual:

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/12W3v2_MAN.pdf

manual includes wiring diagrams, but this is how you'll wire them

everyone has their own personal tastes and expectations. a lot of people think JL is overpriced, some love them. It's your choice and your opinion that matters. I think the 12W3 is a great value - good build quality, good sound quality, and if grabbed used or discontinued you can save a bundle.

yea, theyre outside dimensions man. thanks... and the rest of the assumptions on the box are correct except one... there IS a center divider. would this make things any different?

also, as far as the JL subs... those ones u linked arent buy it now, and that auction will end before i get this check next friday imma use to do this system... so i only look at the buy it now ones... i have 2 diff subs in mind... lemme kno wat u think bro...

ALPINE SWE-1243 12" SUB 4OHM 750W SVC CAR SUBWOOFER NEW - eBay (item 110500224825 end time Mar-28-10 16:27:02 PDT)

2) TMA BY JL AUDIO T12D4P 12" DVC CAR SUBWOOFERS SUBS - eBay (item 300405340803 end time Apr-09-10 08:48:12 PDT)

also, i was wondering wat brand of face i should go with? im lookin for something between $100-200 if possible.

the Alpine SWE are 4 ohm SVC, not the config you want.

The TMA subs I have no experience with, so I can say either way.

The 12W3 pair you listed is 4 ohm SVC.

a SWS-1243D would give you 4 ohm DVC

plenty of people will bag on Alpine. I'm not saying I think they are tops, but they certainly aren't crap.

Or, i haven't mentioned this yet as it's not as common, but you could go with two 2 ohm SVC subs and just wire them in series

Note: i'm not recommending unauthorized purchases by either of these ebay retailers. However, if you're willing to accept the risks, these are examples. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

what brand face? I assume you mean a head unit?

there are a lot of options - such as Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, JVC, etc. But each one has unique features you may or may not want. Some may have the features you want built-in, some may require external adapters.

Examples:

Bluetooth

HD Radio

USB

Aux Input

Ipod Control

the only thing i really am lookin for is a frontal ipod/usb jack. ive narrowed it down pretty good far as my features goes on crutchfield, and am in my price range. im just thinking if alpine amp would work best with alpine face? it only seems right that one companys products are best compatible with that of the same brand... altho i could be totally wrong lol

if i go with kenwood, im lookin at this one

Kenwood Excelon KDC-X494 CD receiver at Crutchfield Signature

if i go alpine, im lookin towards this one

Alpine CDE-103BT CD receiver at Crutchfield Signature

I recently installed a KDC-X494, it's a solid piece for the money. Remote is a bit big, but does the job. Avoid Dual completely.

You don't need to match head unit manufacturer with speakers/subs/amp manufacturer. go with whatever gives you what you need. ideally, you want at least two preouts, three is great. built-in crossovers are great - the kenwood has them.

If you could live with rear USB with a cable the Alpine CDA-105 is a nice piece for the money, but Bluetooth requires a separate adapter.

And great idea looking at Crutchfield for head units. You get a warranty and all of the necessary installation accessories.

thanks for errythin... lol l4yr4me... u like that quote huh? =) imma go with the kenwood unit. got xover built in, and a... 5/5 reviews. thanks again. ill let u kno once i got errythin up n runnin //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

2 RE AUDIO *** 12" CAR SPEAKER SUBWOOFERS SEx12 D4 pair - eBay (item 170449195175 end time Mar-22-10 15:23:54 PDT)

with displacement, these would also be a viable choice.

make sure that replacing the speakers in the vehicle is a priority. get a good component set up front. also, think about adding sound deadening to the trunk as a future project.
