Help, Need a half inch

I recently got my ES-06 drivers to replace my Rainbow W165SLC.

I have one issue. The mounting depth is slightly bigger. I need about half an inch of spacing between the door panel and the speaker. What are some different ways I can space this out to get the speaker to mount and still look alright. No fiberglassing please. My skills are not there yet.

cut out a baffle from 1/2 inch or 3/4 mdf wood. mount that to the factory speaker location then mount speaker on that
That wont provide enough spacing. I need to go from the door panel farther out. I can make a baffle from the mounting location to the inside of the door panel but then I need to get bout another 1/2" from the door panel out. I am thinking about just getting abs plastic or orange translucent acrylic and seeing what I can do with that.

Any thoughts?

I think you need to read Propimps post more carefully, what he described will work just fine. It's been done by 23984292983 other people having the same problem as you.

That makes a bit more sense. Thanks. I am still going to say I dont think it will work though.

The car is a 2001 cavalier 2 door. I want to get a 6.5" a 4" and a tweeter in the door. In order to do so I dont have much room for play when it comes to where I want to put the speakers, except for the tweeter and a bit on the 4". Where I need the 6.5" is directly in front of the rail the window rides on so I need to build out from the door frame farther, out from the door panel itself. The Mounting depth on the ES-06 is 2.94". I have about 2.5" between the door frame / window rail and the door panel. So my issue still remains that extra .5" from the door pannel.

I have considered swapping the position of the 4" with the 6.5". There access hole isnt big enough though to move it over far enough and still get the 4" to fit in the door.

EDIT:

Same guy posted on caf.com the way he explained it was speaker does not allow the actual door panel to reattached completely to the door...

is this correct?
