Help my buddy who wants to keep his OEM HU

My roommate got a brand new 2004 Toyota Corolla and wants to hook up his shitty sub/amp combo. It's the usualy Best Buy crap and I don't care to convince him otherwise...

Anyway, he wants to keep his rear fill and just add his sub. I'm thinking the only way to do this would be to use a LOC with the signal tapped off his rear fill.
