I have 2 type s 12s and just got 137.4db best which im not happy with because another guy with the same subs and a amp that has the same power got 143.5db in a sedan i played bass mekanik system checka i think it was because the boot is sealed like shit on a log i have 2 separate 1.7cuft boxes why didnt i get any more help me!

ok then lets start again the system is run in a toyota camry sedan it consists of 2 alpine Type S 12" subs each in individual boxes each 1.7 cubic feet before dissplacement the power comes from and amp rated at 360 rms at 4 ohms but is being run at 2 ohms at which it is stable the boot is not the most sealed there is but how can his 2 12's beat my 2 10's i have 130 rms per sub and he has more displacement and power and a car with the same subs can get an extra 6 dB how can we make it more reliable to produce bigger numbers

138.6db on the dash on a linear X is not a bad score nor nothing to be ashamed of. especially if the car that beatha is running is a camry which has a trunk and he's still hitting a 137. try making a single box screw 2 seperate ones port it and try that. brace the inside of the box, what is it made of?? how thick is the wood?? what did you use to seal it?? any sound deadening material?? all and all a 138 with a linear X on the dash is nothing bad my friend my car hasn't been put on a linear X can't wait til it does but i did a 146.8 today on a burp with an audiocontrol doubt i'll break 145 with a linear. anyway answer those questions that i asked and we'll see if we can help ya bro.

How do you findout what your dB rating for your vehicle?

you take your car to a respectable shop on your town and ask if they have a meter. another way to go about it is register yourself in an SPL comp or just go to any comp and ask if they can meter your car. basically they take a mic and put it on the front dash of your car and measure your db put out unless you go to port wars or outlaw class in a comp. then the mic is put in the port. an spl readout also depends on the meter used many are crap few are good. the linear x is the toughest on the market or so i've been told, i myself have only been registered on audiocontrol but i hear that's still a good one.
