I'm looking for sub(s) & amp that go well with rock/metal music. I'm not looking for killer bass or anything. I'm more into SQ then anything. I'm not looking it to blow me away or advertise to the world.

I was recommended;

(2) Alpine SWS-1023D

(1) Alpine MRP-M500

(1) Kicker CK4 2-Channel Amp Kit 05CK4

Is this a good setup?

I'll be doing the install myself & most likely getting a pre-made box. I want to save as much room as possible in my trunk because I do travel.

I also would like to know what websites you buy from? Few years ago I purchased from onlinecarstereo.com but they seem to have bad reviews these days. Crutchfield seems to be overpriced, but excellent support.

Appreciate all the help provided!

Now, this is a story all about how

My life got flipped-turned upside down

And I liked to take a minute

Just sit right there

I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air

In west Philadelphia born and raised

On the playground was where I spent most of my days

Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool

And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school

When a couple of guys

Who were up to no good

Startin making trouble in my neighborhood

I got in one little fight and my mom got scared

She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air'

I begged and pleaded with her day after day

But she packed my suite case and send me on my way

She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket.

I put my walkman on and said, 'I might as well kick it'.

First class, yo this is bad

Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass.

Is this what the people of Bel-Air Living like?

Hmmmmm this might be alright.

But wait I hear there're prissy, wine all that

Is Bel-Air the type of place they send this cool cat?

I don't think sow

I'll see when I get there

I hope they're prepared for the prince of Bel-Air

Well, the plane landed and when I came out

There was a dude who looked like a cop standing there with my name out

I ain't trying to get arrested

I just got here

I sprang with the quickness like lightening, disappeared

I whistled for a cab and when it came near

The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror

If anything I can say this cab is rare

But I thought 'Now forget it' - 'Yo homes to Bel Air'

I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8

And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homes smell ya later'

I looked at my kingdom

I was finally there

To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air

Yes that will be a good setup as the Type-S's can handle any sort of music. I would also look into the Rockford P1's with the Monoblock 300-1 amp (if you want to stay matching brands).

Any Brand name amp kit will be good too, stay away from scosche though.

Also, if you go with the Alpine amp, you don't need a 4 gauge amp kit because the terminals do not accept over 8 gauge, but the rockford 300-1 does accept 4 gauge.

You're an idiot.

I had Type E's sealed. Three 10's and enjoyed them very much. They were very accurate.

My suggestion, thus, is four Type E 10's. They dont require a whole lot of space, and they're cheap as dirt.

For an amp, whatever you like. Closer to 800w rms is nice. Are you going to be purchasing online or in a retail chain?

Retail chain = overpriced, online = better stuff for the money

LOL, I used to post here back in the day for help. I know someone would eventually answer my question. I know my post was annoying, but I'm glad you took the time to respond.

I will be buying online, just don't know from what website yet.

What's your budget? All you need is an amp and subs?

I'm sure we can figure something out for what you're looking for. There is also tons of online companies that do great for next to nothing in price.

I think that for rock/alternative whatever music that JL W3's give the most punch but they are more expensive than most. When buying an amp make sure it is from an authorized retailer and is a reputable company and the RMS rating matches the subs you are using. Like I said before when buying an amp kit make sure to get a brand name and stay away from scosche, and you don't always need 4 gauge!

I'd like to stick to $400 or less for the sub(s) & amp if possible(not including wiring, box, yadda yadda). I will need something that can go in a pre-made box because I don't have the tools or know how to make one. \

Mostly listen to rock/hardcore/metal.

Well, thats not a lot for two subs so I go back to my original recommendation: Two Rockford P1 tens and either the Alpine MRP-M500 or the Rockford 300-1

About $380-$420 for those setups.

Yeah, I'm not looking for anything crazy.

Actually found the;

(2) Alpine SWS-1023D

(1) Alpine MRP-M500

(1) Q-Logic dual 10" box

for $389shipped. Debating.

Thats a pretty good deal. Normal prices:

2 Type-s tens: 260

Amp: 205

Box: 98

Total: 563 before tax.

I would go with that, thats a great deal and those subs are nice, pretty much the type-e's in a dual voice coil config.
