help me with clipping

i have a digital designs m1a running at 2ohms. the subwoofer is a t1510 dd. i have a pioneer 4100dvd for source unit.

heres my question what causes an amp to clip and how can i reduce it to get more clean power. when my volume is at 30 with the max being 40 on the hu my gain on the m1a can only be about 1/4 max and there is light clip at that point. rite at the verge of clip i can tell the sub can handle much more clean power but the amp begins to clip. what is causing this?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

The amp isn't capable of putting out more power.

yep, max gain doesn't equal max clean powwaz

I would try different RCA's? 4v pre-outs on your HU and your amp starts at 8v so all the way down wouldn't be right. Are you using tones or is this on music that could be clipped from the get-go?

This is on music. Popular hip hop. I'm using stinger expert rcas. Ill try a diff pair to see if it helps.
