Im putting a stereo in my girlfriends friends car. Its an old (91 i think?) toyota celica.

The wiring in it is pretty f*cked. The harness is cut behind the dash, etc etc. Luckily there was a HU already in there that we're using.

Anyways, i installed everything, and it all functions in auxilary mode, but now it wont start. It wont even turn over, or attempt to turn over.

I pop the glove compartment to find a viper alarm remote. I call my girlfriends friend, and she tells me "i think it has an alarm, but doesnt work".

Any ideas? Im guessing the alarm system reset when i disconnected the battery to do all the work....

Something might have ****ed up the alarm and ****ed up the chip inside the key.

You should find the model of the alarm and look up the installation diagrams. It sounds like the starter is disabled?

The starter (crank) wire is usually purple if I remember correctly and is located near the steering column (runs from ignition past steering column). You could check for that wire, it should read 12v when the key is turned past AUX.

Hope that helps, its prob been 10 years since I installed an alarm....

Also might want to check the batt in that remote. I wouldn't put it past some females to decide their alarm is broken when their remote batt dies....

its an old *** alarm, you can tell by just looking at the remote.

And i think your right about the starter being disabled //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I think i can reset the whole system with just the car key and the viper alarm box itself, but, i have NO IDEA where the box is.

She bought the car used, and never used the alarm before.

this may be fun //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

It is usually under the dash near the steering column, or behind the glove box.

If you find the box you might just be able to pull the fuse to perm disable it.

got it figured out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

was a lot easier than i thought it was going to be. Found out it was an OEM alarm built into the car with manual doors/windows.

All i had to do was manually lock and unlock the passenger door with the key, and voila.
