Help me spend some money

Ok...I have just been given the go-ahead from my wife to add a sub/amp in my new BMW Z4 coupe:eek: .

I have very, VERY little room to play with (31 lenght x 12 high x 11 deep). I want the best SQ for my buck with ~ $1000 to spend total. I have gone around to the different shops we have locally without that much luck. Yesterday, I was almost talked into a RF P3 setup (thankfully I did some reading here first //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ) I primarily listen to alt rock, industrial, metal, etc...I am pretty sold on the alpine PDX-1.600 for my amp and really looking for a quality sub (will be sealed).

I have gone back and forth between the JL 12W6v2 + 12W3v3, but am really open to options, suggestions, etc...Of course, if you have other recommendations for an amp or amp/sub combo, your input is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the suggestions so far - please keep them coming!

I just checked the MTX page + there is not a prefab box for my car, so I am guessing custom it is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks again!

I've got a 528i and I'm adding an Audison amp next week for $900. Audison is owned by Electromedia which also makes Hertz speakers. That's a little better than the $1,100 asking price. For speakers, I'm getting the hi-energy HLK165 components and the hi-energy coax for the rear by Hertz. The amp is the LRx6.9 model and I've read strong recommendations for this amp. Its a 6 ch. and will power(180W) a P-3 sub(4ohm) mounted in the back dash. The sub is the only questionable part of the system, but I'm trusting the installer on this one. Should be a huge improvement over OEM, but should I go with one manufacturer? I was originally going to use a JL 300/4 and a separate JL amp. I figure I could go nuts trying to pick a good system or just get a good one to start. I've waited long, long enough (= beaucoup years).

dont get mtx, thats garbage and not sq. He said hes looking for SQ, so if someone recommended him a W6 (pure sq woofer) why would you suggest a w7 (SPL Woofer) If you want pure SQ, get you a 12w6, or look at a 12" Image Dynamics Max (IDMax), it is an incredible SQ woofer, and you will be amazed at it's design as well. If I were you, I would get the IDMax. (1 12")

http://cgi.ebay.com/12-IDMAX-12D2-Image-Dynamics-Dual-2-ohm-Subwoofer-NEW_W0QQitemZ170106528957QQcmdZViewItem Here is one i found in 1 minute. With this sub, you would need a 1000watt amp that is stable at 1 ohm. 1000rms x 1 @ 1 ohm is what you will need. I would recommend an SAE-1000D from Sundown audio, if you want a super good price on this amp, send a private message to sundownz on this forum and he'll hook you up the same as he did for me. Good luck man, let me know if you have any other questions.
