help me replace my ancient sub.

Looking for recommendations on replacing a soundstream SPL170 15" sub in an approx 3cf ported box pushed by an mtx 6500D getting approx 650wrms. the lower it goes the louder it gets until it rumbles somewhere below 30hz and you can feel your eardrums hurt. i love it. But the SQ isn't the best. the big box is slow to respond.

I want to try something newer, but as small as possible. a 10" preferably but i'd live with a 12". ~1.0cf max - i need my trunk back!

i would like better SQ and i want ONE sub only. Is it possible to get the low rumble that starts the pain out of a single 10 with my little amp? a 12"?

I've been looking into the TC, SS rl-i10 and idmax but just don't know. i'd hate to purchase a sub and then not have anywhere near the output my old spl170 has and be disappointed. listening to the subs in the sound room at the audio store just isn't a real life comparison. my budget is $300.

Enlighten me with your knowledge of small single sub setups with big results!

But reguardless, if you want a nice little 12 you might try a Stereo Integrity BM or Massive Audio CW, they're both somewhat withn your price range (both subs are around 325)

I actually tried a prototype sub out last night from RD audio, one of their Sonence 12's and I was actually pretty impressed by its output. I dont know what Steve's selln em for yet, but you might try lookn on there if you want something "non-mainstream"... http:///www.rdaudio.net
