Help me pick a new 15 (Possibly an amp to go with it)

I have been in contact with my box maker who is an authorized dealer for SKAR Audio. Naturally, and with no pressure, he pretty much sold me on the product through YouTube videos and the like. I just don't see myself as being the "brand starter" for something with a price tag near $1k total. SKAR is unknown in my area and I'm not sure I want to take the risk.

I have an '06 Dodge Charger with a single XSPower D3400 powering the car and my current amp and sub: JBL BP1200.1 and an RE SXX 12D4 which I can't say enough about. It's just not where I want it to be. I want to upgrade to a 15 and get a new amp to power it as I am selling this setup to a friend of mine.

I'd love to just get an RE SXX15D4 and wire it down to an amp that'll put out a K at 2 ohms but there is so much potential out there and I don't know where to start. I don't want much more than 1000W as I already have voltage drops/headlight dimming etc. Sundowns, DD's, Rockford Amps look good, Sundown amps look good...it's just so much.

Price isn't necessarily an issue, as long as we're within 1000W and we're slamming, I'm good to go. Prefer items purchaseable on Amazon because interest free financing is always a win, but not necessary. Sundown was available, which is why it came to mind.

Buying a Sundown X15 seems like too much, being rated at 1200 and me not wanting over 1000, but it's still doable. My 12 hits, I just want more. The Sundown SA-15 seems viable as well, again with money not necessarily being a problem but 1000W kinda keeps me in a certain price range.

If you favor certain Amps and certain Subs, tell me. Help me iron this out if you would. I need to purchase like yesterday, so any input is appreciated. The SKAR offer comes with a discount, so it is also appealing. I'm just not sure. Thanks in advance.

The Sundown SA-15 is less money and people hit those with 1000+ all the time in daily drivers. In fact, I'm building a t-line for one right now and I'll be running it on 1500 watts. As for the skar line, I bought a bunch of IVX series woofers and frankly, I'm not impressed. They're only rated for 300 watts and I didn't expect a lot from them but the 15 can't take near the abuse that a RE SRX woofer I had could. Not to mention, I have a 350wrms JBL 10 that takes 1000 watts with no problems for relatively long periods of time. One song with that power on it and I could smell voice coils from the Skar.

I was also unhappy with the pole vents on these Skar woofers. They're small, not flared and if you run them inverted, you can hear the pole vent whistling. That said, I know they've improved that design flaw but I have no idea how well the new IVXs or the higher end models hold up. In the end, I think they have some good stuff in the higher end models but personally, I'll spend the extra money on Sundown or maybe I'd try Tantric, DC, Intimidator, et al... there are a lot of good companies making subs.

As amps go, most of the higher end amps are on Korean designed and built boards and I don't know that there's much difference between a Sundown amp and a Skar amp. But again... I'd spend a few extra dollars for the SD. Plus, you can go to dbr electronics and buy repaired and refurbished SD stuff with warranties.

Thanks for the quick response. Would it be frowned upon to get a Sundown X15 and only give it a k? At least in the future if I can improve electrical I can go bigger? I don't even know where to begin with a computer regulated voltage so who knows how far down the line that is. Would I be wrong in assuming that 700W to the X15 would be louder than 700W to the SA-15?

actually ,you need to install the big 3 kit and a better battery ,then you should be able to run up to 2000 rms on your stock electrical

If you want to stay around 1000 rms, Fi Q, Ascendant Audio Chaos, or DC level 3 are all great choices.
Would I be better off with the BL 15 and just underpower it a little bit? If I am going to get a hand made sub I might as well just go all the way and prepare for the future...

depends on your power and how much room your gonna use
Probably be 1000W and I currently have whatever my trunk offers really. My 12 is currently in a 2.38 cube (after the walls displacement and port displacement but before the subs' displacement) tuned to 32.2 hz. Has a 1.5" wide port with 21.75 sq inches of port area. Externally it's 31.5" wide, 16" high and 12" deep.
