help me pick a head unit

hey i am wanting a head unit that sounds good and at a good price.

i know alpine is a good one but the one i want is expensive and after i buy my 2 JL Audio 10w6v2 subwoofers, amps, and my new 6" X 8" speaker plus tweeters and wires and the installation fee to get it all installed. i am looking at a couple of head units and i need u to help me. rate these units on a level of 1 to 10. 10 being the best. give comments on them if u want to that helps out a lot

I can think of some good pioneers and some not so good ones... same for the rest. Unless you want to talk about specific models, I think this post is going to yield little viable info.

ALPINE and PIONEER

they have some good mid priced ranged hus

go to caraudio.com home page and check some of the sites on there

you should find something you like at a better price than you think

Panasonic makes a good stereo with decent prices. I just bought a new one a few weeks ago, but it's sitting on a shelf in my garage because I can't use it in my new car. I just got a new 2003 Audi and they don't make dash or wire kits for it yet. I don't really want to pay a fortune to have custom ones made.

The Pioneer Premier line. They make some of the best decks in the world for less than the competition.

The newest 2003 models such as the Premier DEH-550MP will knock your socks off for the amount of quality and features you get. This deck is just simply amazing.

Alpine is one of the best 10

JVC is ok for the price i have one not alot of features like the alpine but still good for the money

DON'T BUY SONY, SONY AND AWIA BOTH ****. had a awia in my car for 15 min skipped all the time, over any bump, same with sony. But which ever one you pick out make sure it has three pairs of preamp outs. and also play around with them in the store, look at the features, and display. The display is the big part you have to make sure that you will be able to see it in the day time...

Just like everyone else has already said, Alpine or Pioneer Premiere.

I have a Premiere DEH-P9400MP. Love, love, LOVE it.

I have had - and know people who have - Alpine HU's, and again, top quality features and performance.

The other brands? Meh. Why even consider them?

I myself would choose Alpine from your list, but do consider McIntosh, Nakamichi, and Eclipse. The last do have units that are under $500 and have great SQ w/o the useless/extraneous features... Just my 2 cents.

alpine may be exspensive but well worth it
