I know nothing about car audio except for the fact that i want a decent system. I have a budget of $1000 dollars for parts. I'd like to get everything from Bestbuy.com so if you could give me some links that'd be awesome. i was thinking of getting 2 of these http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7057365&type=product&productCategoryId=cat03081&id=1108124880920

and for the box i was thinking http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6294404&type=product&productCategoryId=cat03082&id=1072287759617

I dont really know what makes a decent deck or amp or what i need. and also, would i need new speakers for the mids and highs or will the stock speakers work for that?

thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum.

Obviously you're willing to buy online as you've already stated you want to buy from BestBuy.com.

Is that the only online source you'd be willing to use? I ask because you can easily beat BestBuy's pricing if you look elsewhere.

Outside of that the Alpine Type R subwoofer is a solid product but most here would steer you away from Q-Logic's prefabricated enclosures as they simply aren't worth the price to tell the plain truth. The majority of prefab boxes aren't.

What makes a deck decent? Having the features you need from a company that has a track record of building reliable gear at a price you're willing to pay is the best way I can sum it up, I would think.

Will stock speakers suffice for mids and highs? That is largely dependant on the end user but most (myself included) would vote in the negative on that one. Once you start upgrading other bits of your setup generally factory equipment just won't cut it afterwards...

well the thing is, i have no idea how to set everything up so i'd need it installed.

also, how big of an amp would i need to power those subs i listed? and how much wattage would i need from the deck or doesnt that matter?

thx for the reply

i dont think a 12 will fit in my trunk... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Well if all you have to work with is 10" I would still start with a single one. That speaker 10" or 12" has an RMS of 500 watts. The amp I posted would do a good job of pushing a single type R. Just my .02

I agree with Jmanpc. The ONLY reason to buy equipment at Best Buy would be if you bought the 4 year warranty.

Speaking of which I got an old Jensen that's in it's last days of a 4 year BB warranty that needs a little love.... Sorry. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/offtopic.gif.470a8b0541c72322a0037f48a8237473.gif

Even though I also agree with jman and Raven, he stated that he wanted to buy everything from BB. That lead me to believe that he has a BB CC that he is wanting to use. I dont know about you but I can think of a single company that takes BB CC besides BB.

Dont hit me

what are some good sites that you guys would buy from? and also, what kind of specs would i need from a deck to run all of these speakers?
