i'd only go with the alpine if you're gonna get the pxa-h701 to go w/ it... cause you're gonna need it to have a EQ and time alignment and all that... that deck will fully control the processor tho im pretty sure.... depending on what you're gonna be doing with the rest of your system and upgrades in the future, and budget, you'd prolly wanna go with the cd5000 if u wanna stay on the cheaper side but go with the alpine if you're gonna go with an all out active setup

Define "all out active setup". I'm a noob as you can tell by my 3 posts and double posting.

I want a good SQ system. I'm an audiophile but know nothing about car audio. Home and computer audio is a different story. I want a system I can enter into a small town SQ contest. I don't need to win right away but top 5 would be good.
