Help me no sound from laptop

On my laptop I cant get the sound to come through the speakers, but I can get sound through headphones. I read something about there being some kind of button/switch in the headphone jack to turn off the speakers when headphones are plugged in. Replace the headphone jack. You will have to replace the entire card that it is on unless you like soldering.

I don't want to replace anything, isnt there just some way to see if the swith thing is stuck and fix that?

to completely fix the problem, either take apart the computer check plugged in wires aint discoed, and or computer clean out

Try just plugging in headphones a bunch of times.. happened to me once where i could only here volume from headphones and i did that and then my speakers started to work again.

Dell makes decent laptops. Ive had this problem a couple times with my Toshiba. Ive also seen it happen on HP and Gateways.

To the OP, try re installing the driver for it.

Had same problem with my HP laptop. Sent it back to HP and they fixed it.
