Ok, here's how to pick it

for price get one of the X800GTO from listed on this site:

mod it and OC it... my X800GTO runs as fast as any X850XT and it cost nothin 6 months ago..

as for the latest crop of cards just get the ATI "mainstream" offering... skip over the low end of the cards and you'll be fine... also historically ATI has run HL2 faster than the NVIDIA cards

ohh and buy all your computer shit from http://www.newegg.com they always have near the lowest prices on the web and their service/shipping is the best you can find...

if so, what would the difference be? and how would that mod stack up to a geforce 7800 for example?

wait a minute.. i just checked newegg and the x850xt from sapphire is 174 while the x800gto from sapphire is 170!!!! so by performing the mod you save 4 dollars???//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

the X850 to be more expensive.... when I bought the X800GTO in dec the X850 was $150 more expensive... I suppose the new line of cards depressed the price on the X850
