Help me decide.

hi,

If I havent searched enough dont flame me. but I think my problem is unique.

I have installed a carputer, baisically a laptop, with a Turtle beach roadie soundcard. the sub output will go to the amp and the other 4 channels will go to the stock amp whcih is already hooked on and working.

I have a stock infinity gold system. I decided to use the stock system as it sounds good, but to bump it up a notch i want to add a sub.

So after a lot of searching and lurking I think this would be the best a kicker 12" L7 with a ROCKFORD FOSGATE PUNCH 800W Mono RMS amp or a JL AUDIO 12 " W6 SUB with a JL 400 W amp.

My question is The kicker L7s are cheap with 750 Watts RMS so I think it would give me much better bass. The ROCKFORD FOSGATE amp is expensive and want to know if it can be substituted with a cheaper 800 - 1000 w rMS amp that would give me the same bass.

Q2, will the amp work fine with the output straight from the .1(sub) connection of the soundcard. will I need a line driver, and do they make mono line drivers.

Thanks for your help.

could of had better choices on your subs, but i wont go into that.

The prob with carputers is their extremely low voltage line outputs arent much for an amplifer to work with....a line driver is a great way to raise this output voltage and really they dont make mono line drivers...its kinda pointless for even a company to try to market something like that. So your best bet on that is to get you a Audiocontrol Overdrive (or similar product) and put it inline between your soundcard output and amp

No please tell me, I wouldnt mind getting different subs, the reason I chose this was because my buddy has the setup and his bass was loud.

I like that clean loud punch over the constant mumbling bass. But i appreciate any help. Do they make any amps with a line driver in that would expect really low voltage?

I bought the Phoenix Pro Line Driver with OEM Interface SLD-44 for my front and rear speakers so I will give it a shot with that and see if the subs work good.

Thanks

Dont go with the kicker, they get loud but doesnt not sound good. Why didn't u look into Infinity? since ur stock is Infinity plus they sound good and can be bought at best buy/ circuit city. Also I would go with a sealed box for SQ and a better punch.

Infinity, I thaut the JL's would be better.... well im not sure... but the good thing abt bestbuy is that I can take them back if they arnt good....

thanks... any other suggestions.
