Help me decide please between Focal or Boston Acoustic pros?

went to the store today to listen to the two. well i was looking for subs but had a listen to the two anyways. hahaha. well for my type of music. i think the focals are the way to go. unless all you listen to is hip hop, then get the pros. that's where i think they really shine. but for everthing else and an overall sq. i like the sounds of the focal's a lot better. makes all the music i listen too sound the same and not one louder then the other. if that makes any sense. oh and it also depends on which line of the focal or bostons you get. i think i liked the low line focals and the high end of them. the middle line of them was too much tweeter based. unless you like the club music. for the bostons, it always sounded like a club and played it quite well. but when i put something other then rap and hip hop, they didn't handle it very well. but eh, that's my oppionion. anyways, no mind me i just rambling and it's late here so umm. yah ok buy. hahah =)
Which line of focals did you listen to?

I've used Boston pro for the last ten years and they always sounded good! The Pro60 I've got now took a little work on the x-over to tame the treble! I put in better resistors but had to do a 6db cut to get them smooth. But I'm one of those wierdo's that hates a bright system.

yup, basically the same reason i didn't get the pro's. more like a club music sound then a natural sound.

if you talking about mids and highs, i listened to the v1 and v2 polyglass. as well as the k2 power. the v1 polyglass i liked as a budget comp cause it sounded smooth. the v2 polyglass was the one that sounded like the boston pro and had a simblyce to it. dealer said it was because it was a tweeter base component. but the one i really loved with a lot of detail was the k2 power. nice smooth sound with a lot of vocals coming out. the only thing i noticed is that the mid bass was a little lacking. maybe i'm just bass def. hahaha.

if you talking about subs. i listened to the 27 and 33 v1 as well as the 27 and 33 kx. to me all of um sounded kind of close. the only difference with the two was that the kx was a little louder or more sensitive then the v1's. but all had a nice low extention and sounded smooth. the 11" and the 13" coulden't tell any difference because both of them hit low enuff and sounded good doing it. oh and the best thing about it was it did it with 300w rms. hope this helps some. =)

My local dealer has the Polyglass 3 ways in stock, its a 6.5" midbass 4" mid and 1" tweeters I think for $500 is that a good price?
I was thinking of getting those and putting the 4" along with tweeter in my kick panels and the 6.5" in my door thinking that would sound great, but I wasnt sure if that would be a good option..Now Im going to use BA 5.25 seperates in the kicks and A 6.5" Midbass woofer in the doors front and rear.If I can find a pair of6.5 BA pro woofer/drivers without the tweeters that is.Focal has some but expensive as hell just for 2-6 inch drivers

This thread is the best example I've seen in a long time of the importance of hearing speakers for yourself rather than asking for the opinions of others. I think 18 out of 20 people suggested the BA Pros, and this guy goes and listens to them and prefers the Focals! Both are great speakers... I actually have a set of the BA Pros up for sale but I loved them... gonna try out the Alpine X Pros or some Hertz I think. But there are so many threads on here about people asking other peoples' suggestions on which subs/amps/speakers/HU to get, and I think all too often people forget that who/what you should be asking are your ears. Glad you found something you liked!

x2 The ONLY way to tell if you like a set of speakers is to demo them with the type of music YOU listen to. I couldn't imagine dropping $500 on a set of speakers I've never even heard...
