Help me decide on a good SQ/SPL sub for my rig!

New member here trying to get some feedback on a sub that would fit my ear well. I have a wide range of musical taste, everything from rap/trance/old school/rock, even classical at times. I am looking for a sub that would fit well into a SQ & SPL category, good output but clean and accurate. I want something that is going to sound fantastic at nominal volumes but can hit hard if/when I want it to.

I have already picked up the amp that will be running the sub, it's a JL Audio 500/1. The install is going to be in my new rig, a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. It will be in a custom fiberglass enclosure that will be installed in the back passenger side quarter panel. The enclosure will be between .75 - 1 cu ft of space. I will be retaining the stock deck as I really enjoy it and the Boston Acoustics 6 speaker system for mids and highs.

My budget is around $1000, maybe a little more. I have already ate up $250 for the amp. A sub around $300 or so would probably leave me the room I need for the install cost.

A couple subs I have looked at are the JL Audio 10W6v2 and the Image Dynamics IDQ12v3 (choose the 12 because the 10 can handle 500w RMS, wanted a little breathing room). I am open to ANY suggestions for other subs as I want the best bang for the buck. Let me know what everyone thinks and give me some suggestions for other subs, I'm not looking to break the bank here.

JL 12W6v2. Not bad cost, excellent output and SQ. No worry about the power, it will be louder and lower than the 10w6 anyways. I love the W6v2 subwoofers. Run 1 sealed in the biggest possible box that you can fit in your space. Be really nice if you could find 1.25-1.5ft3 for it. Keep the power clean though.

i just wanted to know if you had a store front and if you had a TL so i can get my chit metered. oh well, i'll look else where. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

either sub you listed above would work well off of the 500 watts.

my vote goes to the idq though. im a little biased though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for all the feedback, keep it coming! Thanks for the link to the 12w6v2, that is the cheapest I have seen it for. I will look into the RE sub as well, I have heard it mentioned a few times on the forums.

Has anyone had any experience or comments on Fi Audio? I know they are fairly new to the game but I have read a few positive reviews on their stuff. Their Q series 10 is $234 and their 12 is $244 directly.
