Help me come up with a project

O.k. well, we are studying The Age or Reason & the Enlightenment Era. The teacher says this is when people started explaining things using math... such as gravity. I have to come up with a project and complete it by wenesday.

She said perform an experiment or musical peice and explain it using some type or mathematics. I really want to do something on speakers or boxes or displacement. Something having to do with car audio because most people in this class dont know what a darn subwoofer is. Help me think of something i can do and explain using math. I know there are tons of different things i can do but i want to see what you guys can come up with. Thanx

Could do the musical spectrum, and how a note is simply a pressure wave that has a specific amplitude, frequency, etc...could talk about octaves, harmonics, how we perceive the sound, how the speaker interacts with its environment to produce the sound...blah blah, you get the idea.

Or if you want to go simple, discuss the mathematical forumulas behind tuning frequency, and what it means. Go into how a speaker will operate with different tunings, at different frequencies..

Good idea going with talking about a subwoofer. You can probably just bs everything and I doubt the teacher will know what you're talking about anyways.

see what i was thinking was a little simpler and just video taping my IDQ15" at different herts and explaining the different frequencies. I guess that is kind of what you are saying.

You could do how to calculate the tuning hz of a box and then explain how the tuning of the box affects the sound waves and how the different tunings of boxes sound to our human ears.
