For a 12" sub with enclosure and amp I don't want to exceed 500

If you can move the JL jx250/1 without taking a terrible loss, I would move it and go to a bigger amp...a solid 700+ watts rms on a conservatively rated 600 watt 12" sub. Look for @700 watts rms at 2 ohms with a D4 dvc sub. Or, if you have the money, go with a conservatively rated 1200 watt rms sub in D2 @ 1ohm for 1400watts.This way, if you make a smart amp choice now and decide later you want to add another 12" sub, or go to a couple of 10's, or whatever, you will be prepared to do so amp wise. Get the right amp and you have a slew of options available.

About the best deal for the $ on a underrated quality 1ohm stable amp i can think of right now:

500 for a sub box and amp look used ,new may be a bit harder to find , if you can build the box yourself it will be alot cheaper than having one built.

get an SSA DCON or IA I series 12 if you want new, but i suggest u get that obsidian 12 that was offered. My love mine to death, it will get down as as little as 300wrms but can take 1K all day. Theres also lots of great stuff in our classifieds here man, just look for a 1Krms amp. So ull be able to push any entry/mid lvl sub, you can always turn ure amp down, but it can only put out so much lol

I have a Boston G5 12 for sale, I could do 200 shipped. It has some of the best sq out there and still gets loud, its very efficient so it doesn't need a lot of power to get loud. Its designed for small enclosures so it won't need lots of space. You could put it in a 1cuft sealed box, box will run you 40 or so then you'd have plenty left over for an amp and the wires.
