Help me choose a car audio system

This is my first time upgrading my car audio system.

I can buy 2 Kenwood subs (1000 watts), Kenwood amp (1200 watts), and a custom built enclosure from a friend of a friend for $300 installed. Or I can buy the MTX Terminator amplified bass system (Comes with 2 12" subs, a 400watt amp, and the enclosure for $250 and I also pay for installation).

both setups are junk but if ya wanna stay about 300 for a whole bass setup then thats probly the best u can do i guess. i have some nice mint soundstream t5 12s that will do good in a prefab sealed box for sq or be loud in a good ported box. ill sell them for 250 shipped.

$300 for those kenwoods installed is not that bad of a deal but im sure you could find a lot better on craigslist if you were willing to install them yourself.

My budget is about $400. I don't need the latest and greatest. Just want something better than stock and for a low price.
