SPLC Fails
I am about to sell my car, which means I am about to get a Bronco. I should have some money left over, most of which will go straight to audio. I am hoping to have around $1000 spending money. Here is a short list of the specifics of what I am going to get/use:
1 pair of Image Dynamics CD1-Pro's (mounted in dash
1 Atomic Apocalypse X 18" D2 (I need to buy the recone kit, about $130)
Big 3 with 1/0 gauge
Memphis Baby Belle (for speakers)
Fatmat
Eclipse 8v deck (unsure of model #)
There is a lot of stuff that I am unsure about, so here's that list:
Rear speakers (do I also need door speakers, or will the CD1's work?)
Battery(s)
# of runs of 1/0 gauge power + ground
Box for APX18 (current box is only 3/4" thick, and box is about 4.4cf)
Amp for APX18
Sound Quality sub
Amp for SQ sub (will run remote wires from APX amp and SQ amp to dash mounted switches for those times when I would rather have SQ then SPL)
I'm sure I'm missing something but I'll add in more as I think of it. The stuff I'm least sure about would be the rear speakers, battery(s), box, and 1/0 gauge runs. I favor used equipment, because my goal is quality on a budget. An amp for the APX that pops to mind would be an MB Quart Discus 2000.1, since it has been benched at 1700@2ohms (stable to 1 ohm). I'm considering an FI SSD 10" for the SQ sub, powered by something like a PPI art series amp.
If someone would run down the "unsure of" list and give me some direction towards what I should get (keeping quality on a budget in mind), I would really appreciate it. I'm not looking for something from the likes of Crunch, Kenwood, Pioneer, or anything like that (there are exceptions though, so don't rule them out). What I mean is I'm not looking to power my sub with a 4000 watt crunch or boss amp or anything like that. The MB Quart amps are probably passing grade as far as my wants go. And when it comes to the rear speakers, think along the lines of Focal, Diamond, or even Rainbow. Just whatever is worth the cash spent.
Again, I just want some ideas, so don't take anything too seriously. Don't offer me to buy your stuff; I will begin buying equipment after I get my Bronco. Links to used stuff for sale as a reference would be great though.
Thanks for any help, and let me know if I need to clarify anything!
