i wana get some subs 4 my 02 camry.....i liked da kicker l7 and the alpine type r 12", which r better feel free 2 suggest different onesalso wuts da difference between 4 duel ohm and 2
Sweet jesus, everyone likes those subs.
Anyway, I don't know much about subs, but here it goes.
The Kicker will probably pound harder than the Type R, if it's given the correct wattage. There's not one that's necessarily better, it's mainly based on personal preference. I'd probly go with the L7's. Oh, and make sure that you ignore peak, for amp and subs, because from what I've heard it's mainly a marketing ploy to make it seem like the sub can handle more wattage. I'd say get an amp that does around 800 watts for the kicker, and something around 650-700 for the Type R because it can take much more RMS power than what it's rated at.
The difference between a dual 2 ohm and a dual 4 ohm voice coil is this -
A dual 2 ohm allows you to wire the sub 3 ways - you can have it wired so the amp sees a 1 ohm load or a 4 ohm load, depending on whether you wire it in series or parallel. I forget which does which. Or you can wire each voice coil to a channel on an amp, but not many people do that as far as I know.
With the 4 ohm, you can make it so the amp sees a 2 ohm or an 8 ohm load, or 2 4 ohm loads by wiring it in the same way as what I said for the 2 ohm.
Oh, and having a dual 2 or 4 ohm coil doesn't make a sub better than another one, it just means that you can wire it different ways.
1 ohm will get the most power from an amp that is stable at that wattage, 2 ohms will get less, 4 will get less than 2, and 8 will get less than 4. Just look at some spec sheets for amps and you'll see what I mean.
hopefully all of that is correct
