well you have an RL-P, did yours have to break in, and sound like shit when you first got it?
Well my rl-p actually started banging from the second I hooked it up, but I have mine in a 2^3ft ported box tuned to 34hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

Do i need a new bigger box if i want it ported, or can i just port this box? Again, i am gonna make sure 100% the box will fix anything, i don't wanna invest money into a box, and then find out its another problem

Technically your box is too small for a normal port, it would be tuned very high.
ok then, what about your ghetto port idea? I may very well do that, i just don't wanna screw the box up and have it sound all messed up.

yes, trust me you need a bigger ported box, it will surely fix the problem and over time the sub will break in, have a box builder build it for you, and as said tune it low, 30-35 hz should do well for tuning

If I was strapped for cash thats what I would do, you could always seal the small hole back up really easily, the polyfill wont hurt either.

man this thread is getting long..97 posts, whoot! for the post w'hores.

Yeah, im pretty strapped for cash. I just dropped like 500 on the NIne.1 and the RL-P and i don't really wanna spend more money on the sub box now.

Im off to go look at transexual midget **** and then goto bed, I'll check back in the morning.
thanks for your input. Really helped me out. My other friend who heard my sub already is telling me i am nuts and it hit so hard it rattled his eyebrows when he heard it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif The only concern of mine is that it bottoms out or does something where it makes a terrible noise if i make it loud. That i don't like at all one bit.

I think you've been getting some real crappy advice.

First of all, f*ck all this ghetto porting and all this bullsh*t... You have a really high excursion sub that should be able to reach pretty high volumes in a sealed box especially with that amount of power.

With that said, switch the 4 guage from Nine.2 and put it in the Nine.1 instead. I can't believe no one told you to that yet!

Next, set your lowpass lower, probably down to 60 hz or something around there, play around with what sound better.

After that, get a multimeter, read the gain setting tutorial and set them properly!

If you still have problems after that, I will have to say that someone ****ed up the wiring with your Nine.2 or something like that especially if it affected your other sub somehow.

with my headunit, i cannot set it lower than 80. Its either full, 80, 120, or 160. And with the wiring, how hard will that be to switch the wiring? Will i have to rip the car apart again? Or are you just saying just unplug both power wires and switch them with eachother?
