Well, i heard someone's system that had 2 older RE subs in his car (the older mid model ones) and that was insane, i could barely breathe when his subs were hitting, thats how i want mine. His also sounded good too.
You have choosen the wrong sub for youre appliction if this is what you wanted. That might be one problem.

im finding a LOT of things interesting,
1)why would somebody recommend the BREAK in of sub in these situations? the people are saying it dosent sound loud, a broken in sub isnt gona give him an extra 12db were it will become loud. Subs will not gain 3db after being broken in.

2)Why the hell are you giving a sub 1200 rms if its rated 600, i dont care who says what , you really got to stop listening to people and look at the drivers numbers obviusly engineers and designers arent going to lie to you and if you think people know more than them thats you.

3)I HIGHLY doubt that going adding .35 cubes is going to fix this problem, go get some pollyfill and you will see. And you need to go to the god **** website and find out the information on the subwoofer, it dosent make sense to GUESS randon enclosure volumes, again to the website it will tell you what enclosures that sub will work in, again engieers and designers are not gona LIE to you .

To comment on #3, the website suggests using 1 cube or under sealed for the amount of power i am sending it.

I bought this sub with full intention of daily running it off of 1200 watts rms. What SQL driver would be better suited for that?

Again, this is NOT an insult to the driver, im sure the RL-P is not defective or anything, in fact the sound quality absolutely blows me away. I just think i bought the wrong sub for my tastes. I was looking for a SPL monster with decent SQ as well, but this sub is definately geared much more towards SQ.

Would an SX or even a XXX be a better choice for me? Again i have nothing against getting a better box for the sub, i just wanna make sure its what I actually want before i start investing in it.

I have not read the updated pages...so here goes. WIRE THAT D@MN POWER WIRE TO THE BATTERY! It will make a huge difference in your amps performance! Your box is around .85 cu ft, and man that is small, I thought it was 1cu ft after displacement. Upgrading to an all out SPL monster and throwing it in that box will do it no good. Re-wire your power wire, check your ground and put that baby in a new box! You don't buy a BMW and go park it under a d@mn pine tree that is gonna get sap all on it and expose it to the elements you put that b!tch in the garage and baby it and give it a good home....right now your rl-p is livin at the local shelter and is not diggin the room he has been givin.

Regardless of what i do with the sub or not, i am gonna get a better ported box. I just got to thinking that the RL-P is a 600 watt sub, and i am giving it double the power, and its not really benefitting from that i bet. I just thought i would be better off getting a sub thats meant to handle 1000 + watts all the time. Tommorow we are gonna rewire the car.

Mine gets uber loud getting 600 watts in a ported box. I think your going too much on wattage, thats like throwin a pyle setup in your car and saying I have 6000 watts this thing should be banging. Have you re-wired your stuff up yet?

Ok with the wiring, im just waiting on my friend to have an open day to do it. TOmmorow is the day we are supposed to do it. THen why did i buy this sub if it can't handle this much power? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Again you are thinking if I buy an amp to give it 1200 watts it should be just stupid loud, this sub will get loud and sound good doing it. The most important thing you need to do as of now is re-wire your power wire, you should be able to do this by yourself it is not hard at all. After this is done, get a new box for it. Even going from .83cu ft to 1.25 cu ft will make a difference.

If i got a sub that is made for that kind of wattage such as an SX, wouldn't it beat the shit out of the RLP though? Also my main concern is breaking the sub with that amount of power. I wanna be able to crank it up without fear of blowing it everytime.

Alright nice time is over.

Its not the sub its the install. You are a rookie at car audio, dont blame the sub. I could stick your *** in my car and make you say oh sh!t.

Considering Jelly put up 148ish with 2 15's and 1400 watts means they can get loud. Thats not the question. The sub is based off the tc9 motor its hella strong and hella nice.

Yes its a 600 watt driver and mike did rate that conservativly. It can take the power with proper gain settings.

Re do electrical and get a new box before considering other subs.

Also, with the rewiring, right now I have a 4 guage going into a distrobution block, which then splits into 2 8 guage wires which go into each amp. What do you guys reccomend i change with the wiring (besides moving it to the battery) ?

I was under the impression that the only way it can handle over 1k watts is in a small sealed box, so if i change to a medium ported box, wouldn't that blow the subwoofer?
