Help in choosing amp/sub(s)!

I have recently installed JL xr components and a 2 channel Phoenix Gold amp in my car, and I am interested in getting a sub or subs, which leads me to my first question, should I look into getting one or two subs? What sort of questions should I be asking myself when I make this decision?

Either way, I have heard that Alpine Type R's are a good choice in terms of bang for your buck. Ive seen them online for around $150 and this is about what I would want to spend.

So after that I would need an amp obviously, so what are some good reccomendations for an amp to drive the sub(s)? Again I would probably want to spend around $150-200, but if this isnt enough to get something decent Id be willing to spend more.

Also, in order to run the two amps I would need some sort of power distributor or something, wouldnt I? What are some reccomendations as far as purchasing one of those?

when looking into buying a sub, ask yourself these questions

do you want sound quality or do you want it to be loud or a mixture of both

how much space do you have

do you want to run a sealed or ported enclosure
