Folks-

I recently have tried to upgrade what is left of my son's system while he is out of town. I jumped in both feet, and I am pretty clueless. Here's where it stands now:

Pioneer AVH4200DVD

Alpine MRP M1000

JL Audio 12TW3

Db Drive Okur A7M 100.4

Db drive 6x9s and tweeters

So...the system sounds good to me, it won't be winning any contests, but I really just want to find out if the Alpine MRP M1000 amp is okay for the JL Audio 12TW3 sub. I don't want to overpower the sub or cause any problems. Any advice you can offer about how hard I can push this sub, recommended settings, etc... would be awesome.

Thanks - D2

the MRPm1000 will demolish that TW3, especially with an amateur piloting the volume knob, and I don't care how low your gains are set.

big 3 is not needed with a 400 watt sub, are you kidding me?

Not sure what the Big3 is, so no. I'll read your link, thanks.
Deff need to get it done at some point. No need to remove any existing wiring, simply add to them with 0ga. I also dont, and havent used an inline fuse for the poss connection on the alts, by adding wire..no issues in any of my vehicles in over 3 years. I dont find it relevant for such a short run, as wel as its still fused at the main fuse box while keeping existing wiring attatched, though its up to you to place an inlined fuse to batt from alt..may be wise but I havent had any issues none the less in ovefr 3 years with any of my vehicles

1000 watt amp plus a 100x4 amp=?? You really think the stock 8 ga and stock batt is going to keep up with that, and not struggle without wearing out the alt or batt?

I have found that most pioneer headunits only clip at max volume level. i would make your adjustments at lvl 39, there is no problem with a bigger amp running lower wattage subs if its set correctly. your looking for 28.2Volts output on your amp to get that wattage on your sub,(assuming you are at 2ohm) u can find 50hz tone to download and burn to a CD for setting the amp.

Wow! This isn't sounding good! I had the sub installed about 10 days ago, no problems so far. That said, I don't push the volume at all Not even sure I've had the volume at half for more than a song or two, and most times the volume is less than half. I love how the system sounds, but it sounds like if I don't get a different amp I am going to ruin the subwoofer?

not with a 400 watt sub, **** no. but it'll be fried the same day it's installed so it doesn't matter anyways.
That amp will never produce is max power out put with the existing power supply as well as the mids and highs amp do to the bottle necked supply to begin with, and more than likely will see 40-60% at best on either amp if that without thebig 3 and supply needed to keep them up in demand.Keeping the gain down and adjustments on the hu, and that sub will be just fine/work.

When you say make my adjustments at 39, you meant to turn the volume to 39 (just under max), then run the gain to distortion, and back off til it is gone? Is that correct?

lol bro i've seen those amps in action on 8 gauge with factory electrical and it was still enough to fry 2 L7 10s. 40-60% my ***. it will draw as much as it can until the wires melt...

So....the Big3 upgrade would be important for me if I wanted to reach max power on the amps, but if I do that I may need to consider, either an additional sub or a smaller amp????
