Help for the new guy

Hey guys, nice site. Been lurking here awhile trying to find info before I start asking stupid questions. Anyway, I'm looking for some opinions/recomendations on a system install. This is all going in a 2004 Ford F-250 Crew Cab. Nothing has been installed yet.

Here is what I have to start with

PG XS4300 4ch. amp

PG XS2500 2ch. amp

Memphis MCSQ5.25 Mclass 5 1/4 components

Audio Control 3XS crossover

Audio Control 4.1 eq

Q logic kick panels

I'm still undecided on a head unit and a sub. There's not much room for an enclosure in this truck. I've found a few prefabbed enclosures for one 10" such as the Pro Box by Audio Engineering a couple from some other companies. I know a few custom installers that could build me something to go behind seat, but I'm thinking about just doing a small box sitting in the rear floorboard. I'm more concerned with sound quality than anything. So do you guys think this is a good list of parts or should I go with something different. I have very little money tied up in this stuff. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric

Well I guess if I'm not able to utilize any of the stuff I already have I wouldn't want to go over about $2500-$3000 max. Would this get me a decent sounding setup?

I would look into some Boston Acoustics if you want to sound nice, I personally love the sound of thier drivers, even thier subs. Best sounding system I ever heard was a Boston Acoustic Pro 10" woofer in thier own little box with a 10" PR on the rear of the box. **** that sounded good.

One thing I can say is, if you are serious about sounding good, make sure you do not skimp on the install. I would recommend deadening all of your doors, getting materials to build pods/kicks, deadening your firewall, your roof and your floor, and making sure rattles and sound proofing are taken care of. That makes a world of difference, especially when installing speakers in a door and/or listening during road trips or traffic.

well if you got 2-3k to spend on a system, i would mos def reccomend usamps hehe. Pm me if you wanna know more. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yeah I plan on sound deadening everything. Been looking into the RAMMmat. Seems like a less expensive alternative to Dynamat. I'm not sure on the placement of the components though. I have Q logic kicks but hear they need some work to sound good. The Memphis components that I have include a 6x8 mounting plate that would probably fit right into my doors but my leg kinda covers the speaker on the drivers side. With the factory system I cant even tell the left side is playing. But I guess that probably has alot to due with the cheap factory components. Do you think these 5 1/4 drivers would give good midbass performance in a properly sealed and deadened door? Or I was thinking I could do components in the kicks and a seperate midbass driver in the doors. I have no idea how I would wire that up or what crossovers to use though. That may be a little over my head. I would rather keep it as simple as possible with the most focus on other details such as dampening/deadening etc.

Thanks for the replies. As you can tell I'm new to this and need all the help I can get. All I'm going off of is what I've read - no real world experience. I dont want to overcomplicate things.

alpine for HU cant get anything better than an alpine, for sub i like kickers

Have to say mighty good list for being new to the caraudio bug. Those are some good componets you have. I am sure if you deaden the doors good and get the right imagining you will happy with those. I would also suggest a mofo sub from memphis off a nice size 1500watt mclass amp. I am not sure how much air space those need though. If you are worried about space then try the diamond audio d6 10" sub as those are very clean. Good luck!
