Ok, so I bought my son a Alpine double din head unit with car play and a jvc 700w amp to put in his truck. It already had 2 12" subs in a up fire box under the back seat.

The problem is when he turns it up very load, the radio cuts out.

What could the problem be??

Keep in mind that I'm 53 years old and most of this is foreign to me, so please explain it to me like I'm 8 years old. THX!

Cutting out is most likely going to be a bad power or ground... Or the amp is wired below it's rated impedance. Or if the radio itself is cutting out a bad connection.

Agreed with this here. Since you have the unit pulled out of the car/dash...test it at your car battery directly for operation. very simple to do...
