Help finding Subs...

Still Learning!
I got a Lanzar vibe286 amp.... and I've been having a hard time trying to find suitable subs for it... it's already blown a 12" P2, and a 12"Pioneer premier... I had 2 premiers and 2 p2's btw...

Can any of you guys suggest any sub that i won't be having troubles with?

And if you got this amp... what subs you got with it?

sounds like user error blowing the subs rather than the amp. did you set the gain right?

but post the specs of the amp and your budget.

Yeah It's prolly me ... but I've been getting alot of advice from some people here and from other audio forums... and that hasn't really gotten me any good... i have faith this thread will help though :p

Anyways... since I've already posted the specs of it before.. the website does have an error on it... but this is what caraudiodeal.com has as the specs..

-Lanzar VIBE-286 2 Channel Amplifier

# 2x 300W RMS at 4 Ohms

# 2x 2000W MAX at 4 Ohms

# 1x 4000W MAX at 4 Ohms Bridged

# 2x 450W RMS at 2 Ohms

# MOSFET

# Electronic Crossover Network

# Bass Boost Circuit

# 2 Ohms Stereo Stable

# Anti-Thump Turn-On

# Illuminated Top Panel

# Soft Turn ON/ Off

# High & Low Level Inputs

# Power & Protection LED Indicators

# Advanced Protection Circuitry

# Remote Control Bass Booster

# Dimensions: 11.06''W x 2.24''H x 21''L

# T.H.D:

# S/N Ratio: > 90dB

# Channel Separation: >65dB

# Frequency Response: 15 Hz - 35KHz

And the Manual http://www.lanzar.com/manuals/VIBE226-236-246-256-266-276-286-416-426-436.pdf

At this point my budget is around 300-400 bucks..

Okay - those are the published specs as per the manual.

The problem here is that the Vibe-series Lanzar gear is a bit infamous for being more than a tad optimistic with their wattage outputs claims.

Going off of the 2 Ohm stereo output figures you should expect about 900w X 1 RMS @ 4 Ohms with the amp in mono bridged mode. Notice the use of the word "should" there...

I'd be willing to bet almost anything that actual output, at best will be about 75% of the published specs.

So - 225w X 2 @ 4 Ohm stereo / about 340w X 2 @ 2 Ohm stereo / 680w X 1 @ 4 Ohm mono bridged.

Maybe.

Quite possibly the output will be less than that even but without throwing a bit of test equipment at it there's no way for me to tell you with absolute certainty.

Now - armed with this new more realistic information make your subwoofer(s) purchase accordingly
