Help finding amp for subwoofers

Well if you bridge it to 250 Watts instead of giving each sub 250watts, then bridges it would divide the 250 watts between the 2 subs, however if you got a 2 chan. with 500 bridged then yes it would be the same.... as far as an amp thats worth its weight for that price, probably going to have to get it used.... check out the classifieds on this forum

Thanks, that was exactly the info I was looking for. Also with that size amp will I need to get a HO alternator or should I be able to get away with just a capacitor?

You should be fine with a 500 watt amp on your factory electrical, use as big of power and ground as you can though if your amp will accept 2 gauge then use that. Also I use to really advocate the use of a capacitor, but now I believe they are just a waste this may cause alot of debate but i have seen tests done where a cap has very little to no effect. Besides just looking cool specially the ones with the voltmeter built in, they are not worth the money.

How familar are you with amps and subs and such?? what are your subs dual voicecoil or single??

Tim

Thanks but I alread got an amp and I have two Polk Audio DXi 104SVC. Which they are single voices, and im geussing thats what the SVC stands for.

And I just got a Kenwood Kac-8105D its a mono and at two ohms itll push out 500 watts RMS. Giving me 250 on each speaker leaving me with 20 watts headroom on each.

And since I am basically a beginer at this stuff I dont know much. Just the basics, but I do learn quickly

For a beginner that amp will suffice, as you grow with car audio you will find yourself wanting more. I used a Kenwood amp in my first set up, be weary though, if you push that thing to hard it will overheat and shut off, so if all the sudden the subs stop, try turning it down, if it comes back on, its overheating

ok thanks for the info. But this is about as much power as I could fit into my truck unless I take out my passenger seat. These speakers will be a very tight fit as it is.
