I have decided on a ported box tuned between 26-28hz for a Stereo Integrity Magnum 12" and a DLS Ultimate A5 amplifier (780 x 1 @ 1ohm + 2 x 50 @ 4ohm for the front stage, typically does 1000 x 1 @ 1ohm and 2 x 85-100 @ 4ohm). I need some help designing an enclosure to give this setup justice (dont want it to look lk shit...) and I want to provide proper protection for my subs, amps, etc

Would 85 x 2 @ 4ohm provide enough power for a set of horns and mids (maybe ologys new set...w/e they come out...). Would this provide enough balance for a SQ install? Would the mag overpower the front stage?

How do you physically install horns? I know where they are installed, but how do you affix them inside the vehicle?

I am also considering installing a carputer as I am very knowledgeable with computers and have built close to 10...I also happen to have quite a few hard drives laying around. Is there software for active xovers?

I have access to a full wood working shop, lathes, cncs, etc and would like some input. I also am interested in fiberglass (if it would be possible to install a Xenarc 7TSV into my double din slot)

Is it probable that my doors could fit 4" deep mids...or would I have to make kicks also?

here are some pics

trunk =12ft^3

disc changer slot (could I install an amp there and remove the area where the disc changer would be?)

wheel well, basically the length of the entire trunk (how large of a fiberglass box could this encompass)?

dash (ya...havent cleaned my car in a while lol. Would it be possible to glass a new dash to fit a 7" screen in that double din area. How difficult would that be?)

under left and right dashes (where horns would be installed)

you will have to figure out how to install the horns on yourown. its really not that hard, looks like theres nothing under there to get in the way.

as far as the amp goes- no thats not enought for a PAIR of horns and a PAIR of mids. you are going to need another two channels.

that amp does 80x2@4 and 1000x1@1? you are going to need another amp that does about 50x2@4 [25~35x2@8].

you can NOT run a SQ setup with the horns and mids ran at 2ohm mono sort of way. you are also going to need a nice active crossover for it all, and if i were you - i would get a headunit that is eaither an indash doubledin setup, or an alpine that can control the RUX-H701 processor, or you can get a regular flip out screen and get the RUX-C701 controller for the RUX-H701 [assuming you buy this for all the processing for your stereo]

im not quite sure what you could do with the box, but you might want to look into glassing it into one of the sides or somthing similar.

Yes, thatd be nice. This will be my first install (...yes im a noob), but Ive got full access to a wood working shop and know a few cabinet makers and have access to a whole bunch of CNC machines. Ive got a couple of friends who worked at car audios shops and to top it all off my uncle once owned his own shop and now has a masters in electrical engineering, so Ill have a bit of help along the way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. Id really like to give all of this equipment some justice, install wise and show some of the ignorant people in my area that audiobahn and jl arent the *shyt* and stuff that costs 1/2 as much can sound just as good and better.

I just need some ideas on how to lay everything out. How large my enclosure should be. How I can display the DLS amp and carputer, but protect it behind plexiglass.

How hard would it be to install that 7" screen in the dash? Itd only be about $350~ more than buying a KDC X889 and I think itd add a lot to the car.

I'd like to stay away from glassing the trunk for the subwoofer, as I can get anything made of wood/plexiglass for free.

Are there no programs for active xovers on a pc? Id really like to install a carputer.

How much power should I send the mids to balance with the horns (the horns are 109dB efficient)

Skeptical you got any idea when those ology mids are being released?

If anybody has a new DLS A2 amplifier (under $200-250 preferrably), id be extremely interested. I cant seem to find these amplifiers anywhere (and I dont want to pay full price)

Does anybody have any ideas on how to layout the setup? Where everything should go? Etc Etc...thats what I am focusing on right now.

as far as the screen goes, i think you would be better off with a stock "doubledin touchscreen" kind of unit. there is a sweet alpine double din thing in japan

i dont think it would look right in your car though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

i would just get somthing like this maybe

http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/products/product.php?model=IVA-D310

and then get this [you can control it with the indash monitor]

http://www.alpine-europe.com/content/cms/index.php?p=704&details=1&sid=ea0e195daac38c13c8aaa943617b0bcf

you still wont be able to run your horns correctly though, you still need to get a 2 channel amplfier for them.

2001 Jetta

I can get a 7" touchscreen to work off of a carputer for ~$150 + ($300-350 for a carputer) much better deal than a flipout screen. The carputer would have a hard drive and I could have full access to all my DVDs and CDs with the push of a button, not to mention internet access if I was at one of those sat internet hot spots.

Would it be possible to send ~8 watts to the horns and 80 watts to the mids?
