Help: Clipping or Popping

Okay this is kind of weird. Everytime I don't start up my car, and i'm just listening to my stuff without the car running, everything sounds good, i get a good bass sound and everything. But when i start the car up, i get some popping from the speakers, and a little bit of clipping. Any idea what is wrong?

i don't have an amp yet, right now I have started from the ground up on my system, i replaced the back speakers, and got a headunit, and thats it for right now. But when I have the car not turned on, my speakers sound fine, and i get a good sound, but when I turn on the car, i start to hear some popping and distortion. It's weird..any clue what it is?

try changing your ground location on the h/u

sounds like your speakers are clicking because they are ready to burst, or your ground is not solid . Check your grounds and set your gains accordingly.

but what does that effect the car being on or off to make the speakers pop or not.

Well if your voltage drops when starting the car the amps will pull more current to compensate. Does it only do it with the volume up or does it do it with the volume on low?

What kind of amps do you have?

Also it could be the HU sending a bad signal.

Every Stereo I have owned will shut off when turning the car on then come back on. Yours does not do this? Or it does do this and that is when you are hearing the pop? Cheap amps will pop when you turn the Car on. Some amps filter this out.
