Help choosing an amp to fit my sub

So I am little new to the whole car audio thing but I just got a passenger side stealth box for my Firebird and a 10” CDT audio 250 watt RMS Max 500 watt sub. I got all of the wires ran from my Alpine 7864 head unit and from the battery but now I need to chose an amp. What should I base the amp off of? The 250w or the 500w? Here is a link to the sub:

You can't copy and paste links when they have the "..." in them.

Anyway if the sub says 250W RMS then you want an amp that will put out a little more than 250W RMS at whatever impedance the sub is running (usually 2ohm or 4ohm)

OK you'll want an amp that puts out a little over 250W at 4ohm. The cheap way to do that would probably be to get a 2ch amp and bridge it.

Not sure what your budget is, but the JL slash amps are usually underrated and this one would be fine for that sub:
