Help choosing amp..

Alright I bought 2 new alpine type r 10s which are 600rms each. I decided to get the 4 ohm subs...which makes sense no sense to me because I can't use my other amps now.. So first question first.. What should I wire my subs to? 1 or 4 ohms and what is the benefit of each? Sorry for the dumb question. I listen mostly to heavy metal and rap. I want a pretty g ood amp, but I'm not trying to break the bank. Definitely trying to stay between 200-300 dollars. Also is all the **** I've been reading that "these subs can handle 1000w rms all day even though they're only rated at 600w rms" true?

It's a lot easier to get the power you need at 1ohm instead of 4ohm...a lot cheaper too. I'd look into the Soundstream DTR1400.1, if you're looking to save some of that $200-300 budget. If you're willing to buy used you can get something like a Sundown 1500D for around $275-300.
