Help!! Cant decide between these two subs!!

I need honest input. I am trying to decide between a 2013 type r 12 (1000rms/3000max) on 2) Sony GS XS-GTR120LD 12's (520rms/1300max) The two are the same price as the single type r. Type r would be ran on 900rms(2ohm) and the Sonys would be ran on 500rms(4ohm) from a kenwood 9105D 1800max mono. I need to know which would be louder cause i dont know if i believe the two is better than one thing on this subject.

of those that you stated, the type r, in the proper enclosure, one sub can sound much better than 2. i won't knock the other choice you made. some will say there is better than that type r in the same range, there are a few on here that can custom a sub for you in that price point also.

im still undecided. I sold my cerwin vega vmaxx 12 and slot port box to a buddy and am now without bass so I want something that is going to hit pretty hard with the amp i have. It is going into a 2005 jeep grand cherokee laredo. The cerwin was pretty impressive, on just 500rms it hit 139.8. Oh also my budget is 300 for sub and box. Any other ideas in that price range that will blow my mind?

Why not an Obsidian 15"? It's dual 2 ohm, so you can run the amp at 1 ohm. The amp is rated at 600 but should take 900+ without issue.

And it's $160. Spend another $40-50 on screws, glue and a sheet of MDF and build yourself a nice ported box.

The type R is not a bad a sub at all, and in a good enclosure they perform rather well.

A ported box tuned high, those things hit the higher frequencies like crazy.

That depends more on your goals and what you think "pounds". Personally I would use a decent sized enclosure with moderate port area and low tuning.
