Help buying my first laptop! ?!

on a sort of thread jack rant here....but where is the cheapest place to find Cpu's....

cheapest ive seen is on ebay....im lookin for a intel dual core mobile processor....that runs at 2.4 ghz per processor.... ive seen it for 350 ish.....u guys know a cheap parts place online for laptops?

The only laptop Pentium processors around are the Pentium Dual Cores, which are basically chopped down Intel Core Duo processors. In other words, they **** ...
Oh and the Pentiums you speak of (based on the Netburst architecture) are a relic of the past ... They no longer exist in laptops and will soon be discontinued altogether from desktops. Thanks for recommending him a laptop based on information from 3 years ago, though ...

He was talking about buying one of ebay..i didnt want him buying anything less than a pentium 4 ht hence my pentium 4 ht or higher remark.

Also by the way they do put Intel Core 2 Duo processors in laptops.

It would be faster than any of the laptops you're looking at ... However, he didn't list the graphics card, so I don't know how it would handle games.
As for laptops, the Toshiba A200s seem pretty solid but some people don't like the European keyboard.

ya the pc doesnt have a graphics card, i use the onbosrd video. i am not a gamer, it does have a pci-e slot though

the gateway would be my choice of those, its obviously more than your budget, but nothing selling something or waiting a little longer wouldn't take care of...these are just suggestions, but they all feature specs which are about what your looking for or more, so just kind of ear mark the attributes for your search...

I was looking at the sony vaio CR notebook (VGN-CR120E) it has pretty much everything i need and is about $1460 with tax at best buy. ....should I?

get it, i just bought that one from bestbuy 2 weeks ago. The laptop is amazing, i love it.

I am looking at this laptop. For around 1500 you can get it with vista a 512mb video card, wifi, and a dual core desktop processor. I have found a couple of reviews for it and they both seem pretty favorable.

This laptop will work perfect for you. Since you're not overclocking it, there's no need for an Intel processor. I don't care what anyone says, Intel is not better than AMD, and AMD is not better than Intel... In their own way, they're better than each other (overclocking goes to Intel of course, and running at OEM specs, AMD is crushing. Price, definately goes to AMD.)

i think it was around 800 brand new with warranty, some 6 months ago
