help buying a head unit and speakers

just purchased a 94 T-Bird Supercoupe and would like some help modifying the sound system.

I want to replace the speakers because the two on the right (front and back) have a problem with fading in and out and crackling and i figure i could use some better speakers all the way around.

I want to replace the head unit which is currently a Pioneer DEH-835R, with a newer one so i can play MP3 cds and control an iPod.

I know the speakers need to be 6x8s but other then that I have no idea what speakers would work with what head unit and what would sound best.

In addition, there is a sub in the car. Its a 12" Boston sub, other then that i don't know anything about it. In the trunk with the sub theres also a Pioneer GM-X552 2-channel amp. Not sure if the amp is driving all the speakers and the sub or if thats even possible seeing its only 2-channels.

Anyway, what do i need to look for that would be compatible what i already have, and what would sound best?

Here are the Pioneer links to the head unit and amp if nessisary:

Thanks.

Nothing wrong with that deck or amp really. Amp should sound pretty good actually. I used to have one on a set of JL componets and they were some of the best sounding componets I had.

What kind of budget are you on?

Also I used to have a T-bird the 4.6L with aftermarket supercharger and man do I miss that, but not the gas.

Anyway, you can fit 5x7's in there as well, if you don't want to do 6x8's. Actually, I would do a componet set up front, like at least a 5.25 set and make some adaptor plates and would be way better off with that. Keep that amp and put them on some PG Rsd's, which is a budget componet setup, that sounds very good. Back speakers, you can do, but won't need really.

Sub.........find out what model it is. Boston makes some pretty good stuff.

Also he probably has the 2channel on the sub and isn't seeing much on it. Run that amp on your highs, get a decent bass amp for that sub, but need to know what it is D4, D2?

Probably a prefab box, if so make your own, or have someone that you know help you out. Be better off with a custom box.

I could help you out better though, if you gave a budget.
