Headunit installation

Black/ white stripe amplifier ground... what is this used for?

Installing a kenwood headunit, and it is not producing any sound in any speakers. Tested in my friends car, which is his deck, and did not get any sound. Tested in my car and still no sound. Everything is matched up perfectly except for this Black/White stripe wire that is on the car harnass. Wat am i missing here?

It starts smooth, but no sound.

If there is a factory amplifier, it is grounded through this wire. You can tie it in with your black ground wires in an aftermarket installation. It may or may not be the cause of your problem. What kind of vehicle?

he most likely has a ford 98up. so just ground that wire out with your decks ground.

so is that the reason why there is no sound coming out from the stock speakers?

if the stock speakers have an amp, then i would say yes, no ground on the amp no power, no power no sound.

Are you using a external amp or the HU's amp?
