Help anyone who knows please

ok i have 2 questions in ....

1. ok i bought a mechman 270 amp alternator.. im only running 1500 rms. ok i turned my subs off on my radio. got my Digital voltage meter and measure my idle voltage on the battery for 5 minutes. i started my car and the voltage was 14.98. as it sat it would drop to 14.0 . and the alternator regulator plug is loose on the alternator. on my stock alternator it snaps on and i have to use a screw driver to get it off. but with the mechman alternator the plug just slides right off it doesn't lock in place. is there something wrong with the alternator ?? i wanted to take it to autozone to get it tested but they can't test the 08 alternators cause they don't have the plug.

2. could my amp be getting hot because the voltage is sitting at 13.9 ??
