I having no clue how to chose a wiring kits or what wires i look at the wire guide and everything else its just freaking confusin

can anyone help choose one for me I have a 15" dvc 2 cerwin vega vmax and a kenwod execelon kac-x812 and ill be wiring at 1 ohm at a lil over 1000 watts so i know ill need a 4 gauge power wire and then im lost from right there

pos to pos neg to neg from the sub to amp. and as far as 4ga goes its a bit on the small side. hope you don't plan to add a second amp or a bigger amp ever without buying new wire.

i know how to wire my stuff its just idk what wires

well the wire guide in this forum said less than 1400 whats class d is a 4 gauge wire that my my mono amps is gonna be puttiing out just over a 1000 @ 1 ohm

and what about speaker wire how you determine what gauge

You have to wire the voice coils of the sub in parallel. To do this, connect both + on the voice coil to eachother and connect both - on the voice coil together. Now connect one of the + on the sub to the + on the amp. Then one of the - on the sub to the - on the amp. This will get you 1 ohm.

shorty is right, use 2 gauge. It is safer and will give you room for another amp later.

Run RCA cables from your head unit to your amp through the car on one side. Now connect a remote wire to the remote lead on the HU and run this with the RCAs. 18 gauge is fine for this. Just be careful not to pinch it. The remote wire might be included with the RCAs, depending on the RCAs you buy.

On the other side, run a power cable from your battery, through the firewall, to the trunk. Use a ring terminal on the end of the wire to connect it to the battery post. Get a fuse holder and a fuse (200 amps max for 2 gauge wire). This goes on the power wire between 6 and 18 inches from the battery. Careful when hooking the ends of the wire to it to make sure it's all sealed so you don't short it out. Use heat shrink, electrical tape, or liquid elec. tape.

Connect the power wire to the power on the amp. Now connect a 2 gauge ground wire from your amp to a solid metal surface as close to the amp as you can. Use a dremel and sandpaper and grind away all the paint on the surface to ensure a metal to metal contact. Use a ring terminal and a self tapping screw and washer to secure the end of the wire to the metal.

Connect the remote wire and the RCAs you ran to the remote on the amp.

Secure your amp! Screw it to a piece of carpeted MDF or even chipboard. Screw this piece of wood to the trunk of the floor or the back of your seat. IF YOU SCREW THROUGH THE FLOOR OF THE TRUNK, DON'T GO INTO YOUR GAS TANK ACCIDENTILY.

Hopefully I didn't miss anything too important...if you have any specific questions do a search first then go ahead and ask if you can't find anything. Good luck with the installation, it's a big learning experience so don't get frustrated.

You already know that you're going to want 4awg power for that amp (according to an earlier post)

Your ground needs to be as big or larger than your power connection so you'll want a length of 4awg for ground as well.

Then you'll need a length of smaller wire (size is really of no great import for this) to serve as remote activation lead to go from the remote accessory activation output to the appropriate input terminal on your eXcelon monoblock.

Then you'll need a set of RCA cables to bring signal from your source unit to the amp.

And then of course, a bit of speaker wire to connect the amp to your sub.

You do not need to buy an all-inclusive wiring kit as the above ^^^ can normally be sourced a bit less expensively buying the items separately but if you want an all-n-one kit then likely pricewise something from Knu is going to be your best bet. (http://www.knukonceptz.com)

Have a look at their site and investigate the various 4awg wiring kits they've got.

Good luck getting your gear hooked up! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
